In celebration of the centenary of the Province of Alberta and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Peter Whyte, the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies presents The Lives and Legacy of Peter and Catharine Whyte, a major two-part exhibition exploring the lives and legacy of our Museum founders: Peter and Catharine Whyte. Come and be captured by their spirit and legacy.

Artists and Museum founders Peter and Catharine Whyte played an integral role in shaping the art history of Alberta and Western Canada. The Lives and Legacy of Peter and Catharine Whyte art component will display an expansive selection of their landscape sketches and canvases, portraits studies, works painted during their world travels, as well as in and around Banff. Paintings by the Whytes’ major artistic influences: Aldro Hibbard, J.E.H. MacDonald, and Carl Rungius will also grace the gallery walls, as will a selection of works from the Whytes’ personal collection.
